ProQuest Ebook Central access issue

The Library is aware of an issue affecting access to resources on the ProQuest Ebook Central platform. Several users have reported seeing the following error message:

“Sorry, your institution does not allow access to ProQuest Ebook Central from your current IP address. Please contact your librarian.”

The provider has identified a cookie-related issue and is actively working to resolve it. If you are affected, please clear your browser’s cache and delete cookies as per ProQuest’s instructions.

ProQuest – Scheduled maintenance – 10 August 2025

ProQuest research databases will be unavailable on Sunday, August 10, from 03:00 to 11:00 (GMT) due to planned maintenance. This includes the EBook Central platform, which provides access to several eBooks in our library collections.

British Library gates and building

Following last year’s cyber-attack that has paralysed its operations and online services, the British Library has now partially resumed its activities, providing users with a ‘read-only’ version of its online public catalogue and some physical access to the majority of its key special collections.
