Access to the veterinary databases Equis and Canis has been set up on two standalone PCs in Resource Room B on the Brackenhurst campus. These resources have been set up as single-user standalone resources as it is not currently possible to provide institution-wide networked access for them. When a customer logs on to the relevant PC, a shortcut link to the resource and to a walkthrough how-to guide will be accessible directly from the desktop. Access to each resource is by a specific username and password (which is contained in the secured walkthrough guide). Entries for both resources have been added to eSearch (without a clickthrough link, but with location and access details).

Canis is described as follows:

Canis provides up-to-date canine specific clinical information for people working in the veterinary profession. It is possible to search by keyword, browse by topic or look up specific drug therapies. Content is provided in a concise, easy–to–use format and is enhanced with comprehensive cross–linking of related content, diagnostic images and sounds. Browsing by topic provides a link to the latest published research in PubMed and suggests related websites. There is also a collection of owner factsheets specifically written for owners to aid their understanding of various conditions and veterinary procedures.
