Resolved: Access to CIS and OHSIS

ACCESS TO BOTH the Construction Information Service (CIS) and the Occupational Health and Safety Information Service (OHSIS) has been reinstated following the loss of authenticated access reported on Monday.

Access to these services is now through different modules of the new IHS Markit platform (part of S&P Global).

The library is working with both Digital Technologies and the technical team at S&P Global to reinstate authenticated access to the service using the university’s Single Sign-on framework.

In the meantime, access is once again available by means of an individual account registration (associated with an NTU staff or student email address).

Illustrated guides to the registration process have been added to the Find Databases listing for CIS and OHSIS – along with the dedicated new registration link.

Construction Information Service – off-campus access restored

THE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED issue preventing off-campus access to the Construction Information Service – off-campus access has now been resolved.

Off-campus access to the service is once again available via university username and password.

Off-campus access links in the Find Databases service to the LACORS and OHSIS databases have also been updated to ensure continuity of access.

Authentication changes: IHS database services

On-campus and off-campus authentication to the IHS database services has changed, and links in eSearch have been updated accordingly. On-campus access to The Construction Information Service, OHSIS (Occupational Health and Safety Information Service) and Trading Standards Specialist is now direct; and off-campus access is via university username and password. Athens authenticated access to these services is no longer available at present.

These arrangements have been agreed with IHS as an interim arrangement to enable access to these services while the company’s work to support the new Shibboleth framework is completed. Once IHS is Shibboleth-compliant, off-campus access will continue to be by university username and password; while on-campus access may also then require a university username and password (i.e. no longer be direct). eServices will provide updates on this as IHS concludes its work to support Shibboleth.
