Updated resource: OverDrive

THE RANGE OF content available on the OverDrive platform continues to grow with the addition of comics and graphic novels from notable publishers such as Dark Horse Comics, Marvel and Disney.

Access to OverDrive materials is through the OverDrive web site and also through the Libby app (available for Android and iOS devices).

Authentication to OverDrive content is by university username and password. NTU staff and students need to register an OverDrive ‘library card’ which then entitles them to ‘borrow’ up to 30 comics at any one time, for an initial seven day loan period.

A new entry for the OverDrive All Access Comics Collection has been added to the Find Databases service.

Individual titles are also discoverable through Library OneSearch and Library OneSearch Pro, including:

British Library Public Catalogue Outage

The British Library is suffering an outage, affecting all technology services including website, phone lines, and services on-site in London and Yorkshire.

This will include the Public Catalogue.

Box of Broadcasts – scheduled maintenance – Wednesday 25 October 2023

A scheduled system maintenance period for the Box of Broadcasts (BoB) platform will begin Wednesday 25 October 2023 at 07:00. The provider advises that the service should be considered ‘at risk’ during this time.

Problems affecting access to online resources

THE LIBRARY IS currently experiencing authentication issues which is preventing access to multiple online resources, including books and journals in Library OneSearch, and resources listed in the Find Databases service.

THE LIBRARY HAS access to a brand new resource via Library OneSearch: The encyclopedia of the medieval chronicle.

This resource is described as:

bringing together the latest research in chronicle studies from a variety of disciplines and scholarly traditions. Chronicles are the history books written and read in educated circles throughout Europe and the Middle East in the Middle Ages. For the modern reader, they are important as sources for the history they tell, but equally they open windows on the preoccupations and self-perceptions of those who tell it.

THE LIBRARY NOW provides access to more than 400 titles from the Writers and Their Work collection on Library OneSearch.

New resource: Emerald emerging markets case studies archive

THE LIBRARY HAS enabled archival access to Emerald’s Emerging Markets Case Studies, stretching from 2011 until 2022.

The resource is described as:

A growing collection of over 1,000 case studies and accompanying teaching notes with a unique focus on rising economies.

Library OneSearch Pro goes beyond this and makes individual case studies discoverable, each one of them available as an instantly downloadable PDF.

Access restored to JISC journals and book archives

ACCESS TO ONLINE archives of journal and book content provided by JISC has been restored following a brief interruption in service.

All the affected resources are now accessible once again, using a university username and password.

Outage notifications have been removed from the Find Databases listings for these resources, and access URLs updated.
