Solicitors’ Journal: new access arrangements

Access to the Solicitors’ Journal is now direct on-campus and by university username and password from off-campus. Details of the previous access arrangements (requiring a username and password) have been removed from the secure ‘Other Passwords’ page of the library web site. Access information for the journal has also been updated in SFX.

WildPro: access details updated

The access URLs for the WildPro service have been updated in Library OneSearch to reflect changes in the platform. With access to the service now unrestricted, login details in the Find Databases service of LOS have also been amended to reflect this.

Estates Gazette Interactive – changes for new registrations

The Estates Gazette Interactive service has updated the method by which new EGi registrations are self-activated by staff and students (existing EGi registrations are unaffected).

Details of how to register for EGi have been updated on the secure ‘Other Passwords’ page of the library web site. Staff and students need to use the customised access link for EGi provided on that secure page to begin the registration process.

New resource: Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive

Access to the Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive has been enabled in Library OneSearch. Access is direct on-campus and by university username and password from off-campus. The resource is described as follows:

The Times Literary Supplement Historical Archive provides full-text digitised versions of every copy of the TLS published from 1902-2008. This complete online facsimile edition includes over 300,000 reviews, letters and poems, and access to previously unpublished biographical information about TLS contributors, many of whom originally wrote for the paper anonymously.

New resource: Picture Post Historical Archive

Access to the Picture Post Historical Archive has been enabled in Library OneSearch. Access is direct on-campus and by university username and password from off-campus. The resource is described as follows:

The Picture Post Historical Archive offers the complete digitised, full-colour archive of the Picture Post from its first issue in 1938 to its last in 1957. Picture Post’s groundbreaking approach to photo-journalism saw the magazine offer humorous and light-hearted snapshots of British daily life (publishing “thousands of photos of ordinary people doing ordinary things”) to the serious and history-defining moments of domestic and international affairs. More than 38,000 pages and 95,000 articles are available to search and browse, all covering a crucial period of twentieth century history: from the years leading up to World War II to the first decade of the Cold War.

Westlaw – temporary access arrangements withdrawn

The temporary access arrangements for Westlaw have been withdrawn in Library OneSearch, following the conclusion of the ‘essential maintenance’ works on 28 August.

Access to Westlaw is once again by university username and password from on-campus and off-campus.

New resource: archival access (2007-2012) to three Nature titles

Full-text archival access for three Nature  titles has been enabled in SFX and Library OneSearch. The three titles are:

  • Nature (1476-4687)
  • Nature Genetics (1546-1718)
  • Nature Immunology (1529-2916)

The archival subscription for all three titles covers the ‘fixed’ period 2007-2012, and is independent from other current Nature  subscriptions.

Engineering Index Backfile – now included in Compendex

Records from the Engineering Index Backfile (covering the period 1884-1969) are now searchable in the Compendex directory of Ei Engineering Village, following an extension in LLR’s subscription to the resource.

The description of Compendex in Library OneSearch has been extended as follows:

ECCO and EEBO – Library OneSearch connections updated

To reflect a recent change in LLR’s subscription profile, links to the ECCO (Eighteenth Century Collections Online) and EEBO (Early English Books Online) services in Library OneSearch have been updated to connect to the JISC Historic Books collection.

Through the JISC Historic Books service, ECCO and EBBO can be searched independently or jointly, alongside a collection of nineteenth century books from the British Library.

Access to JISC Historic Books is by university username and password, from on-campus and off-campus.

Westlaw – temporary access arrangements (22-28 August)

At short notice, Westlaw is carrying out ‘essential maintenance’ on its Shibboleth service: which means it will not be possible to sign-in to Westlaw using a university username and password between 22-28 August.

Temporary access arrangements have been agreed with Westlaw, and links in Library OneSearch have been updated accordingly.

Between 22-28 August, on-campus access to Westlaw will be direct (using IP authentication). Off-campus access will not  be available. On-campus access will only be possible using the links in the Find Databases service of Library OneSearch.

A further update will follow once Westlaw’s normal sign-in services have been restored.
