Estates Gazette Interactive – temporary loss of access

Access to the Estates Gazette Interactive (EGi) service is currently unavailable. LLR is working directly with the providers to reinstate access as soon as possible. A notice, indicating a temporary loss of access, has been added to the EGi record in Library OneSearch.

A further update will follow once access to the resource has been restored.

Withdrawn platforms: CSA Illumina, Chadwyck-Healey and (legacy) ProQuest

As previously advised access to the CSA Illumina, Chadwyck-Healey and (legacy) ProQuest platforms ends tomorrow (21 August 2012).

All of LLR’s subscription resources that could be moved to the new ProQuest platform were migrated at the start of the year, but from tomorrow any library customers who had bookmarked access to these withdrawn platforms will no longer be able to access them, and will be directed to the new ProQuest interface.

Three of LLR’s subscription resources will continue to be made available on one of the Chadwyck-Healey platforms not yet configured for migration:

  1. MLA International Bibliography
  2. LION (Literature Online)
  3. ABELL (Annual Bibliography of English Language and Literature)

These resources will be migrated to the new platform as soon as ProQuest has finished the necessary configuration work.

New resource: UK Press Online

The UK Press Online service is now available in Library OneSearch. LLR’s subscription to content on the UK Press Online platform comprises full-text access to the archives of the Daily Mirror, Daily Express and Sunday Express. Access is direct on-campus and by university username and password from off-campus. The resource is described as follows:

UK Press Online provides access to the full-text archives of the Daily Mirror (1903-present), Daily Express (1900-present) and Sunday Express (2000-present). Every page is available in thumbnail, small preview, full-size view and ready-to-print PDF with live text, and page-by-page browse of editions.

Access to each of the three titles in LLR’s subscription has also been enabled in SFX (the Find it @ NTU service). At present, the UK Press Online service does not support deep-linking to the article level, so SFX links resolve to the native interface of UK Press Online rather than to the individual article or the ‘homepage’ of the individual journal.

New resource: The Vogue Archive

Access to The Vogue Archive is now available in Library OneSearch and eSearch. Access is direct on-campus and by university username and password from off-campus. The resource is described as follows:

A complete searchable archive of American Vogue, from the first issue in 1892 to the current month, reproduced in high-resolution color page images. Every page, advertisement, cover and fold-out has been included, with rich indexing enabling you to find images by garment type, designer and brand names. The Vogue Archive preserves the work of the world’s greatest fashion designers, stylists and photographers and is a unique record of American and international fashion, culture and society from the dawn of the modern era to the present day.

Institute of Physics journals – new metasearch configuration

The metasearch configuration for the Institute of Physics platform has been upgraded in Library OneSearch (and in eSearch) so that the search results are retrieved and displayed directly within the LOS and eSearch interfaces (rather than remotely through the IoP site).

eBrary PDA titles now accessible in Library OneSearch

A total of 3855 eBrary PDA (Patron Driven Acquisition) eBook titles are now active and available in Library OneSearch.

The titles are identifiable by the ‘Electronic local note’ indicator text: “This eBook is part of the eBrary PDA collection – but not yet purchased” (the thumbnail below is a link to a full size illustration).

An eBrary PDA title in Library OneSearch

As eBrary informs LLR of purchases made through PDA, this text will be updated at the individual title level to indicate that this eBook has been purchased outright.

Off-campus access to Verdict Research restored

Off-campus access to the Verdict Research service (via university username and password) has now been restored.

Information in eSearch and Library OneSearch has been updated accordingly.

Business Insights (Datamonitor 360) withdrawn from eSearch and LOS

Business Insights (Datamonitor 360) has been withdrawn from eSearch and LOS following the conclusion of LLR’s subscription to the resource. LLR’s subscription to the Verdict Research collection on the same Datamonitor 360 platform is ongoing

eSearch – Find a Database in Library OneSearch – problems resolved

A technical problem preventing metasearching in eSearch and the searching of ‘Selected Databases’ in Library OneSearch has now been resolved. The same problem had also been preventing customers from accessing My eSearch in eSearch.

The services are currently being monitored closely to confirm the continued stability of the service.

Please contact Lib eServices if you encounter any further access problems to databases searching – either in LOS or eSearch.

Westlaw: SFX problems resolved – new title level linking

Technical problems which were resulting in errors when trying to access some ejournal titles on the Westlaw platform through SFX have now been resolved.

As part of the fix now deployed, SFX is able to provide (through the login process) title-level linking for all Westlaw titles in the SFX Knowledge Base. Previously, SFX was only able to provide platform-level linking for Westlaw titles.

Casetrack: on-campus access problem

The technical team at the Casetrack service are working to resolve a problem which is preventing on-campus access to the service. Attempts to access the service from within the NTU network result in a browser window which continually refreshes but which fails to resolve to the Casetrack home page. A further update will follow once this issue has been resolved.
