Emerald – remote and metasearching suspended in eSearch

Ex Libris are working on a new search configuration for remote and metasearching of the Emerald full-text service in eSearch, following changes in the platform introduced this week. As with JSTOR, LLR will activate the new configuration as soon as it is made available. In the meantime, remote and metasearching of Emerald FullText has been temporarily suspended in eSearch.

JSTOR – remote and metasearching suspended in eSearch

Unanticipated changes in the JSTOR XML gateway in recent days have caused problems with remote and metasearching configurations in eSearch. Ex Libris expect to be able to release an updated search configuration shortly, which LLR will apply as soon as it is released. In the meantime, both individual remote and metasearching of JSTOR has been temporarily suspended in eSearch.

JSTOR have also reported late yesterday that the platform is experiencing intermittent problems with Athens authentication, which JSTOR expect to resolve ‘within the next 24 hours’.

Westlaw – SFX updated

Shortly after the last eServices update, all links in SFX for UK legal journals in the Westlaw database were updated to direct customers to the new Westlaw platform. Rather than resolving to the individual title level, these links direct customers to the homepage of the Westlaw interface. It is hoped to be able to reinstate title level access once Westlaw confirm the details of the persistent linking syntax required by SFX.

eBrary: issues with the deployment of the eBrary plug-in on the university network

eServices is urgently pursuing with IS the issue of PCs on the university network on which the eBrary plug-in (which is required to access the 30k titles in NTU’s eBrary collection) is absent. It is currently believed that, in the affected cases, the plug-in may have been inadvertently removed as the consequence of unrelated network updates. IS intend to update us on the issue and the timetable for its resolution early next week.

To assist eServices in documenting the extent of the problem, please report to us any and all instances of PCs on which the eBrary plug-in appears to be absent – providing details of the PCs location and (where possible) machine names.

Please be aware that this problem does not affect eBooks on other platforms – including titles on Knovel, Credo Reference, Taylor and Francis or the JISC eBook Observatory project.

Wiley Interscience – licence clarification

To clarify the licensing constraint on simultaneous use of journals on the Wiley Interscience platform, the following prompt has been added to all WI hosted titles in SFX:

Please note: Access to Wiley Interscience journals is limited to one person viewing any one volume of a journal at time
