New resource: LISTA (Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts)
The LISTA database service is provided as a no-extra-cost service through the EBSCOhost platform, and access to the resource has now been set up in eSearch. Access is direct on-campus and by Athens username and password off-campus. LISTA can be remote searched and metasearched in eSearch. The resource is described as follows:
Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) indexes more than 600 periodicals, plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.
New resource: Violence and Abuse Abstracts
Access to Violence and Abuse Abstracts on the EBSCOhost platform has been made available through eSearch. Access is direct on-campus and by Athens username and password off-campus. The resource is described as follows:
Violence and Abuse Abstracts includes bibliographic records covering essential areas related to violence and abuse, including family violence, sexual assault, emotional abuse, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline.
New resource: Abstracts in Social Gerontology
Access to Abstracts in Social Gerontology on the EBSCOhost platform has been made available through eSearch. Access is direct on-campus and by Athens username and password off-campus. The resource is described as follows:
Abstracts in Social Gerontology includes bibliographic records covering essential areas related to social gerontology, including the psychology of aging, elder abuse, society and the elderly, and other areas of key relevance to the discipline.
EBSCOhost – new platform now live
The new EBSCOhost platform (v.2.0) is now live, offering a range of additional and enhanced services. All existing inbound and outbound LLR connections to all of the databases on the EBSCOhost platform will continue to work as before. A brief introduction to the service enhancements introduced in EBSCOhost 2.0 can be found by following the New features! link in the top-right hand corner of the EBSCOhost screen. EBSCOhost platform: access problems resolved
Problems affecting access to databases on the EBSCOhost platform reported yesterday were resolved later the same day. Access to these resources (and remote and meta-searching functionality) is again available in eSearch.
Ebsco hosted services unavailable
A technical problem with the Ebsco hosted services means that the following are unavailable:
- Academic Search Elite
- Business Source Premier
- Econlit
- PsycARTICLES
- PsycINFO
- SportDiscus
- TTI (Textile Technology Index)
Ebsco are investigating and hope to get service resumed as soon as possible. We’ll update you again when we have more news.
SportDiscus – display issue in eSearch corrected
A data-mapping problem in eSearch which had prevented the year field in search results from SportDiscus from displaying correctly has been resolved.
Platform change: SportDiscus
Access to the SportDiscus database is now provided through the EBSCOhost platform (rather than through the OVID-Silverplatter platform, as previously). Access is direct on-campus; off-campus access requires an Athens username and password. SportDiscus is enabled as an SFX ‘source’ and is cross-searchable within eSearch.
EBSCOhost – full-text .pdf problems resolved
EBSCOhost’s technicians have now confirmed that the problem affecting access to full-text .pdf content on the EBSCOhost platform were resolved shortly after they were reported. All full-text content, in all formats, should be available across all of LLR’s subscribed EBSCOhost databases.
EBSCOhost – full-text pdf content unavailable
EBSCOhost’s engineers are investigating a problem which currently appears to be affecting the delivery of .pdf full-text content. While it is possible to search (in the native interface and via eSearch), retrieve results and connect to SFX from all EBSCOhost databases, full-text .pdf requests are failing and delivering ‘page/server cannot be found’ error messages. Where available, full-text .html content continues to be accessible.

SFX linking to EBSCOhost titles – resolution in place shortly
A technical solution has now been identified which should correct the intermittent problems of failed links from SFX to some ejournal titles hosted on the EBSCOhost platform reported before the Xmas break. This should be live later this week – I will update when the fix is in place.
