Refworks – scheduled maintenance – 20 December 2020

A scheduled system maintenance period for the Refworks platform will begin Sunday 20 December 2020, between 04:00 and 06:00(UK time).  During this two hour period the following services will unavailable:

  • Proquest Refworks
  • Write-n-Cite (Legacy Refworks and new Refworks)
  • Refworks Citation Manager
  • Refworks Citation Manager – Hangul
  • Refworks for Google Docs

RLMS and eZproxy services working normally once more

THE TECHNICAL ISSUES that were affecting authenticated access to the Resource List Management System and to electronic resources using the secure eZproxy service have now been resolved.

Both services are now working normally once again.

Any student or staff member who has encountered either error is advised to close and re-open their browser in order to launch a fresh login request to either or both systems.

RLMS – login currently unavailable

THE LIBRARY IS working with providers Talis to recover login functionality in the Resource List Management System (RLMS).

At present, while read-only access to resource list content is unaffected, attempts to log in to the RLMS resolve to a error page indicating that access is ‘unauthorised’.

A further update will follow once login services are working normally once more.

Secure eZproxy services offline

THE LIBRARY IS working with providers OCLC to recover the normal operation of the hosted eZproxy service which is currently unavailable.

At present, all log in requests routed through the eZproxy service resolve to an ‘access suspended’ error page, which should only be triggered when an individual user account exceeds a preset maximum data download limit during a 24hr period.

A further update will follow once the service is confirmed as running normally once more.

Box of Broadcasts – scheduled maintenance – 3 December 2020

A scheduled system maintenance period for the Box of Broadcasts platform will begin Thursday 3 December 2020 at 07:00. The provider advises that the service should be considered ‘at risk’ during this time.

BoB - new platform

VLeBooks – scheduled maintenance – 19 September 2020

A scheduled system maintenance period for the VLeBooks and Askews and Holt e-book platforms will begin Saturday 19 September 2020 between 22:00 and 03:00 Sunday 20 September.

The provider advises that the service may be unavailable during these times.

Nexis UK – access restored

The Nexis UK technical team have now resolved the recent issue of authentication errors when attempting to access Nexis UK from both on and off campus.

Access should now be available for both staff and students.

Nexis UK have apologised for the length of the outage and any disruption this may have caused.

We have received reports of an authentication error message when attempting to access Nexis UK from both on and off campus.

We are currently working with Nexis UK support to try and resolve this issue.

Resolved: secure proxy access problems

THE ISSUES PREVENTING access to resources relying on ‘secure proxy’ authentication, reported earlier this morning, have now been resolved.

All access requests are now resolving correctly, with authentication by university username and password.

Secure proxy access problems

THE LIBRARY IS working with colleagues in Digital Technologies to resolve a problem that is preventing access requests to electronic resources that use the ‘secure proxy service’ from resolving correctly.

The issue is affecting database, eBook and ejournal access requests which rely on this method of authentication.

For those resources impacted by the issue, requests resolve to a generic login screen displaying the OCLC logo (see below).

A further update will follow once normal access has been restored.

Learning on Screen – scheduled maintenance – 22 May 2020

A scheduled system maintenance period for the Learning on Screen platform will begin Friday 22 May 2020 between 14:00 and 20:00. The provider advises that the following services may be unavailable during these times:

  • TRILT
  • Off-Air Request Service
  • Channel 4 Press Packs
  • Radio Collections
