Web of Knowledge – service issues

MIMAS and Thomson-ISI have acknowledged problems affecting all of the database on the Web of Knowledge platform. Responses times on the platform are intermittently slow, and search terms can at times fail to return a results set. The affected services are:

* Arts & Humanities Citation Index
* Journal Citation Reports
* Science Citation Index
* Social Sciences Citation Index
* Web of Science (with Conference Proceedings)
* Web of Knowledge

Web of Knowledge – access problems resolved

Access problems affecting the WoK service reported earlier this week appear to have been resolved. Work by technical staff on the Thomson Reuters team did not identify any specific remote cause for the problem but are continuing to monitor the situation. Please contact Lib eServices if you encounter a recurrence of access difficulties.

Web of Knowledge access problems continue

We’re still experiencing problems with access to Web of Knowledge – get ‘Page cannot be displayed’ error message, or the web page doesn’t display correctly.  Thomson Reuters, who provide the technical support for this resource, are investigating the problems.

ISI – Web of Knowledge – Shibboleth authentication

Off-campus access to all of LLR’s resources delivered through the ISI – Web of Knowledge platform is now by university username and password (using the Shibboleth framework).

The resources involved are:

  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index
  • Journal Citation Reports
  • Science Citation Index
  • Social Sciences Citation Index
  • Web of Science (with Conference Proceedings)
  • Web of Knowledge

All links in eSearch have been updated accordingly. A guide to using Shibboleth authentication on the ISI – Web of Knowledge platform has been added to the eServices support wiki.

Web of Science – renamed in eSearch as ‘Web of Science (with Conference Proceedings)’

To reflect the reorganisation of content on the Web of Knowledge platform, the ‘Web of Science’ entry has been renamed to ‘Web of Science (with Conference Proceedings)’.

For this platform LLR has entries in eSearch for Web of Knowledge (which is the over-arching service, that includes all the separate components); separate subject-specific listings for the Science Citation Index; Social Sciences Citation Index; Arts & Humanities Citation Index; and Web of Science (with Conference Proceedings); and, finally, a separate entry for Journal Citation Reports.

Web of Knowledge – service problems resolved

MIMAS report that the problems affecting the Web of Knowledge service earlier today have been confirmed as resolved – all services should now be operating normally.

Please contact the eServices team if you continue to encounter access problems to WoK resources.

Web of Knowledge – service problems

The Web of Knowledge service is experiencing technical problems which may lead to some users finding slowness or problems with access. Engineers are working to fix this, but customers may experience difficulties with the following services:

Science Citation Index
Social Sciences Citation Index
Web of Knowledge
Web of Science

A further update will be provided when it has been confirmed that the service is operating normally once again.

Web of Knowledge – service problems

The Web of Knowledge service is experiencing technical problems which are leading to failed connections and page ‘time outs’. Engineers are working to fix the problem, but customers are likely to be experience difficulties accessing the following services:

  • Arts & Humanities Citation Index
  • ISI Proceedings
  • Journal Citation Reports
  • Science Citation Index
  • Social Sciences Citation Index
  • Web of Knowledge
  • Web of Science

For those WoK services that are so enabled, it is still currently possible to carry out successful remote and metasearch requests in eSearch, and to send the resulting data to SFX – but connections to the WoK native interface are still likely to fail.

A further update will be provided when it has been confirmed that the service is operating normally once again.

Web of Knowledge / Web of Science service problems resolved

MIMAS report that service problems affecting the Web of Knowledge and Web of Science platform have now been resolved.

Please contact eServices is you experience any further difficulties with the service.

Web of Knowledge / Web of Science service problems

MIMAS have confirmed that that there is currently a service problem affecting native interface searches in the Web of Knowlege and Web of Science platform. They report:

Please note there are problems with the service and Thomson Reuters are investigating as a matter of urgency. Our apologies to those users affected.

The affected services are:

  • Web of Knowledge
  • Web of Science
  • ISI Proceedings
  • Journal Citation Reports

Searches are frequently timing out or running very slowly, and screens within the interface are often not rendering or displaying properly. Remote searches and metasearching of enabled resources in eSearch are running normally, but links through from eSearch to the record in the native Web of Science interface are affected by the same problems.

eServices will update once MIMAS release more details.
