British Library – Services update

British Library gates and building

Following last year’s cyber-attack that has paralysed its operations and online services, the British Library has now partially resumed its activities, providing users with a ‘read-only’ version of its online public catalogue and some physical access to the majority of its key special collections.

Read the full update on the British Library blog.

See more information on using British Library services and searching the public catalogue.

Box of Broadcasts – scheduled maintenance – Tuesday 5 December 2023

A scheduled system maintenance period for the Box of Broadcasts (BoB) platform will begin Tuesday 5 December 2023 at 19:00. The provider advises that the service should be considered ‘at risk’ during this time.

Updated resource: OverDrive

THE RANGE OF content available on the OverDrive platform continues to grow with the addition of comics and graphic novels from notable publishers such as Dark Horse Comics, Marvel and Disney.

Access to OverDrive materials is through the OverDrive web site and also through the Libby app (available for Android and iOS devices).

Authentication to OverDrive content is by university username and password. NTU staff and students need to register an OverDrive ‘library card’ which then entitles them to ‘borrow’ up to 30 comics at any one time, for an initial seven day loan period.

A new entry for the OverDrive All Access Comics Collection has been added to the Find Databases service.

Individual titles are also discoverable through Library OneSearch and Library OneSearch Pro, including:
