Box of Broadcasts reporting outages

The Box of Broadcasts (BoB) service is currently experiencing outages, rendering the site at least intermittently inaccessible. BoB’s engineers are aware of, and attempting to resolve, the technical issue. The BoB team report:

The downtime we are experiencing today has been caused by a server failure. Our technical support team are working very hard to rebuild and restore your access.

A further update will follow once normal service is confirmed as resumed.

UPDATE 14 October 2016: The BoB team have repaired the server outage that took the service off-line yesterday; however it was not possible to log in to BoB using an NTU university username and password. BoB’s engineers have now resolved the problem, and login requests to BoB are resolving correctly once again.

Resolved: Off-campus access problems affecting Journal Citation Reports

The previously reported technical problem, which was causing off-campus access requests to the Journal Citation Reports service from within Web of Science to be rejected, has now been resolved.

It is therefore possible to access the JCR service from within WoS from off-campus once again.

The separate listing for Journal Citation Reports in Library OneSearch, which provides an authenticated WAYFLess deep-link to JCR, that was created while this technical problem persisted, will be retained.

New resource listing: Journal Citation Reports

The technical team at Thomson Reuters are working to resolve a problem which is causing off-campus access requests to the Journal Citation Reports service from within Web of Science to be rejected.

Pending the deployment of a stable fix, an additional entry for Journal Citation Reports has been added to the Find Databases service of Library OneSearch. This new listing provides a separate, WAYFLess URL that will ensure access to the JCR platform from off-campus. Authentication via this new link is by university username and password. The resource is described as follows:

Journal Citation Reports provides quantifiable, statistical information based on citation data, supporting the comparative analysis of impact. By compiling articles’ cited references, JCR helps to measure research influence at the journal and category levels, and shows the relationship between citing and cited journals.

New resource: DCP (Development Control Practice) Online

Access to the online version of the DCP (Development Control Practice) service has been enabled in the Find Databases section of Library OneSearch. Authentication is direct on-campus, and by university username and password from off-campus. As off-campus authentication relies on secure eZproxy routing, off-campus access is only possible through the link provided in LOS. The resource is described as follows:

Development Control Practice (DCP) provides a detailed guide to all aspects of the planning process, exploring the different factors involved in seeking and making decision on planning applications. It is consulted by lawyers, developers and planning consultants who need to understand how councils make planning application decisions, and in turn provides local authorities with a guide to legislation and precedent.
