New resource: John Wiley eBook collection

MORE THAN 22 THOUSAND titles from the John Wiley eBook collection are now discoverable in Library OneSearch.

The titles are made available through a Usage Based Collection Management (UBCM) model, are will be accessible until the end of the UCBM cycle in June 2021. At that point, the library will be select titles to be purchased outright, following an analysis of the usage data across the whole period of access.

Access to the titles is by university username and password.

New resource: Royal College of Nursing ejournal collection

TWELVE FULL-TEXT JOURNAL titles published by the Royal College of Nursing are now available through the SFX (Find it @ NTU) service.

Full-text content from the journals is available from 2017 onwards.

Access to the titles is by university username and password. This provides access to the main journal article content. A personal registration is required to access “supplementary content”, including the latest news and “daily practice” information.

The available titles are:

  • Cancer Nursing Practice
  • Emergency Nurse
  • Learning Disability Practice
  • Mental Health Practice
  • Nurse Researcher
  • Nursing Children and Young People
  • Nursing Management
  • Nursing Older People

Nexis UK – access restored

The Nexis UK technical team have now resolved the recent issue of authentication errors when attempting to access Nexis UK from both on and off campus.

Access should now be available for both staff and students.

Nexis UK have apologised for the length of the outage and any disruption this may have caused.

Refworks – scheduled maintenance – 10 May 2020

A scheduled system maintenance period for the Refworks platform will begin Sunday 10 May 2020, between 02:00 and 14:00(UK time).  During this twelve hour period the following services will unavailable:

A NEW SET OF eBook collections from Manchester University Press has been added to the current list of temporary additional electronic and online resources in the Find Databases service.

The Manchester Hive platform is described as follows:

A collection of eBook content published by Manchester University Press covering a wide variety of subjects and disciplines. Content is organised into chapters and sections, is fully searchable and browseable, and can be downloaded for offline reading.

Twelve separate eBook collections are available, and the Find Databases listing for the resource provides a direct authenticated deep-link to each.

Access to the Manchester Hive platform is by university username and password.

THE LAW TROVE platform, from Oxford University Press, has been added to the current list of temporary additional electronic and online resources in the Find Databases services.

The listing for resource indicates that access to the resource is by university username and password. The resource is described as follows:

The Law Trove platform from Oxford University Press contains around 200 law textbooks covering a wide range of legal subject areas. All the titles in the collection are fully searchable. Materials can also be filtered by specific subject or by level of study.

Law Trove is available to university staff and students until at least the end of May 2020.

New Find Databases - browse by letter

DURING THE CURRENT closure of the campus libraries, LLR is making additional electronic resources available for off-campus access by staff and students.

This material is a mixture of content that publishers are making openly available to Higher Education institutions during the Covid-19 pandemic, and materials that the library has been able to licence paid-access to for a time-limited period.

More resources are being added to list as new access arrangements are finalised.
