Updates on electronic resources from the library of Nottingham Trent University

A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE period on the ProQuest platform is scheduled for Sunday 25 July 2020, between 3:00 and 13:00 (UK time).
This means that the following ProQuest databases, eBook platforms and services, to which the library subscribes, will be unavailable throughout the ten-hour period, 3:00 to 13:00 (UK time):
We are currently aware of an authentication error issue when logging into Elsevier products such as Scopus, Science Direct etc.
Elsevier have identified the issue and their technical team is currently working to resolve it.
ProQuest’s Ebook Central platform will be unavailable from 15:00 till 23:00 on Saturday 26 June due to planned essential maintenance.

To protect against excessive usage that risks breaching our e-resource licensing agreements and also the illegal harvesting of content from compromised accounts, the library imposes a 200MB limit on downloads in a single day.
Setting the daily download allowance at 200MB is an attempt to strike a reasonable balance between the different material file-sizes that staff and students may want to access across different subject areas. It’s a capacity that would allow the download of large numbers of journal article PDFs, but a far smaller number of high-resolution images or multimedia files.
If someone hits this limit, they will be blocked from accessing any more e-resources for 18 hours. If no further action is taken this block expires automatically.

The library will endeavour to unblock accounts in a timely manner before the standard 18 hour expiry but can’t guarantee it during particularly busy periods, or when the block stretches across the weekend or Bank Holidays.

Access to ClinicalSkills is by university username and password, and a one-time short registration process.
The resource is described as follows:
ClinicalSkills.net provides online training and the latest up-to-date best practice guidance across the full range of clinical skills and patient care. The platform includes procedures for those working in primary care, healthcare, in caring roles and for those working with adults and with children. Working through the site, and completing a series of tests and assessments, it’s possible to track your personal performance, add reflective accounts about your learning experience and build your CPD record within ClinicalSkills.
