The remote search (metasearch) configurations in Library OneSearch for both the Scopus and Science Direct services (from Elsevier) have been upgraded to take advantage of the new Elsevier API. The updates are all ‘behind the scenes’ technical changes, so no action is required from customers taking advantage of remote searching of these services.
Catalogue records from both Scopus and Science Direct are already available in ‘All’ searches of Library OneSearch (through the Primo Central Index metaindex), but customers can choose to query either or both platforms remotely, and in real-time, using the metasearch functionality available through the Find Databases service.
Intermittent problems have returned to affect both the Science Direct and Scopus services this morning (9 June 2015); with some requests timing out or ending in ‘service unavailable’ responses.
Further updates will follow as the situation is resolved.
The reported service problems (8 June 2015) affecting the Elsevier Science Direct and Scopus platforms appear to have been successfully resolved.
Some further refinements to the library’s new subscription to the Scopus service are now live.
Cross-searchability: it is now possible to remote-search (or metasearch) the Scopus database direct from within Library OneSearch (by adding Scopus to your list of ‘Selected databases’ in the ‘Find databases’ screen)
SFX button display: the library’s ‘Find it @ NTU’ SFX button is now displaying in all results screens in Scopus. As the image size required by Scopus is smaller than the actual size of the standard ‘Find it @ NTU’ image, a trimmed-down version of the button has been added to the interface
Access to Scopus has been enabled in Library OneSearch. Access. is direct on-campus and by university username and password from off-campus. The resource is described as follows:
Scopus is a large and continually updated abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed academic content in the fields of Life Sciences (4,000+ titles), Physical Sciences (7,000+), Health Sciences (6,000+) and Social Sciences and Humanities (5,000+). Not a full-text resources in itself, Scopus provides outbound links to full-text services on other platforms, where these are available. Scopus provides a range of tools to tracks trends, patterns and citation and research impact. For all articles published since 1996, also Scopus provides full details of the references used
